I’m always on the lookout for new places to eat in Lagos and my friend J has become my accomplice/ partner-in-crime on these hunts. I came across Peppercorn Avenue on LostInLagos, they are the plug for discovering new places to hang out in Lagos. We went at night and got lost because I’m totally clueless when it comes to directions and we forgot to use Google Map but we found our way back there in no time.
Peppercorn Avenue is a fusion restaurant, the menu comes divided into the Indian and Thai sections. I love how the menu is not crowded unlike Spice Route and Orchid House, so it doesn’t feel like you’re taking an exam instead of just ordering food. After getting us seated, we were served complementary chips, mint sauce, Tamarind sauce and sweetened yoghurt. I’m still on the fence with mint sauce and salsa but the Tamarind sauce paired best with the chips for me.
For starters we got the Por Pia Chae a.k.a vegetable spring rolls. It did’nt taste like the regular spring roll you would find in your owambe small chops, this was definitely nicer and the crust was thicker.
For my main I had the Pad Mee Luang a.k.a stir fried noodles. From the picture alone, it’s easy to tell that it was dry but they compensated for that by ensuring it was well garnished.
J had Khao Pad Sapparod, a.k.a pineapple fried rice and the first thing we noted was it had Cashew nuts and we were not warned before hand, if you’re allergic to nuts, do not go near this. We ordered the Charminar Lamb Chops but the waiter forgot to bring it which turned out to a blessing in disguise because there was absolutely no way we could have tolerated any more food. Peppercorn Avenue is great for simple date nights on the weekends and group hangouts. Shoutout to Emmanuel for being super attentive and making sure we were okay throughout our meal.

The food looks nice, and I think the pricing is decent. I’m hooked on EDL like you wouldn’t believe so I saw their review too. I haven’t gone because they said the Indian is way better than the Thai and I’m really big on thai food (s/o to Orchid House).
One day I’ll just pop round Peppercorn and see.
