You’ve probably heard/read about the reasons why you should wear sunscreen and gone right ahead to disregard the information especially if you have dark skin, just like me. It took a bit of convincing and my making the decision to cultivate a good skin care habit to finally start using sunscreen. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do a collage of photos when I’m in my 50s with the popular #BlackDontCrack tag. Continue reading “4 Reasons To Wear Sunscreen || Product Review: SunBum Sunscreen”
Rose Water has easily become a staple in my skincare regimen alongside Rosehip oil. When I got this one by Desire Natural Luxury; a made in Nigeria brand that specializes in organic hair and skincare, I was quite excited to try it out because I barely had five pumps left from my old Rosewater. The most shocking thing about this product is it’s price, my old bottle of Rosewater cost me twice the price of this one from Desire Natural Luxury and this one works just as well.
One word: Amazing.
“The Albimazing subscription box is a natural and organic skincare box that aims to make your journey to better skin as simple and effective as possible”
I’ve always loved the idea of subscription boxes and was literally over the moon when I was told I would be receiving one, it’s like receiving a surprise gift from yourself every month especially if you go for the six-month plan (which grants you access to extra discounts on payment by the way).
The first thing that proved to be a problem for me when I returned to natural hair was where to get affordable natural hair products that would work well on my hair, I curated some really good stores and salons in The Directory but that wasn’t enough because at the time they had mostly foreign products. Fast forward almost 3 years later and there are so many available products made in Nigeria by Nigerians for Nigerians, it doesn’t get any better than that really. In no particular order, here are my 5 Nigerian hair care brands you should know about;
Price: 1000 Naira

Mara Cruiz Organics is a Nigerian owned brand that specializes in producing natural products for hair and skin care. I was fortunate to receive their entire adult hair care range for my personal use and another set to gift a lucky person who would be able to share my experience. The first thing that endeared me to this brand is the affordability and lovely smell! A lot of people I’ve come across are always eager to try indigenous brands but then get put off by the ridiculous prices. The ingredients for each products are safe for natural hair and to prevent this post from being tiresome, I’ve included links to view the complete list of ingredients for each product. They also have a child friendly range specially formulated to care for children’s hair.

I got The Kinky Apothecary whipped batter and grapeseed oil during fashion week last year as a party favor from fashion house; GREY. I forgot about these in the whole excitement of fashion week and got around to using them early this year. The whipped batter is EVERYTHING.
