Hello 2018 | 5 Unconventional New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year !!!

If you read my 2017 Review post, you would know that I had a pretty good year and I have so many expectations for 2018, the only way from here on is up! I sat to write my regular New Year’s resolution for 2018 that featured appearances from my favorites; lose weight, save more, e.t.c. After thinking for a while, I was able to narrow my list to these unconventional goals excluding my main goals and decided to share.

1.) Be More Grateful

Towards the end of last year, I made a conscious decision to live a life filled with gratitude and as a first step towards to that, I purchased the Gratitude Journal from HeartsAndFrames. It’s really easy to lose track of the small blessings and get dragged under by this thing called life but I have something to turn back to, count my blessings and have a more positive outlook.

Bible Devotional

2.) Start and Finish Devotionals

For nearly three years, I relied on You Version for my daily devotionals. In that time, I found it hard to remain consistent even with daily reminders. I got the hard copy version of my  church’s yearly devotional and it has a permanent place near my pillow so I’m constantly reminded to read it, hopefully this strategy works for me.

3.) Cut My Hair

I’ve been having this strong urge to cut my hair. At first, I thought it was just one of those feelings that would pass but 8 months in and it’s still there. I have a gallery filled with hair cut inspo from baldies to gorgeous women rocking low cuts. I’m not quite sure I’ve figured out the one to go with but I’m definitely cutting my hair this year and that’s that.

Piggy bank, financial smartness

4.) Be Financially Smart

I am the queen of impulsive spending. I can literally get up, decide on the spot to go have drinks or lunch somewhere and give myself 5 reasons why I deserve the treat even when I know I don’t. Hopefully, that would change this year. I’m determined to start taking this money management and investing thing seriously, I entered the year armed with a few investment options thanks to this video by Yewande of SheLovesTheFinerThings.

friendship relationship goals

5.) Build and Maintain Good Relationships

This one is not really unconventional and it has featured in most of my new year resolutions in different formats like – Check up on your friends more often, show appreciation to your friends, e.t.c. However, this year, I’ve decided to take it seriously and put in conscious effort to build and value my relationship with people.

  1. Maintaining good relationships is something I definitely have to add to my New year resolution, even though I have none other than to be a better human and love myself more.

  2. Lol I decided to pass on resolutions this year. “I’m going wherever God takes me” I said. But one day in my quiet time last week I don’t know how it pushed me but I picked up a pen and I wrote down what I wanted for the year 😂
One unconventional goal I have is to build my faith on a bigger depth this year.

  3. Hi, my goal for 2018 to live my best life, that includes drinking lot of water, using natural products that work for my skin, checking up on family and friends, hanging out more, saving more money, catching enough sleep and not getting stressed out by nobody.

  4. One of my unconventional goal is Drink more water -sounds simple right? For someone who doesn’t drink enough and can go all day with only a glass or a satchet of water, its a serious goal. Lol

To colour and cut my hair is also one of my resolutions. I’ve done the colour part…on the lookout for the right inspiring haircut.
