DIY: Crochet Extensions With Kinky Hair

Hey Guys!
I’ve been itching to put my hair away in a protective style and I was bent on doing the crochet thing with kinky hair. I called Tunmise Naturals Salon and unfortunately the one person who could get it done was out of the country. However, I’d seen a few videos before on doing the crochet extensions and decided to hop out of my comfortable lazy bubble and actually try my hands at it. It was surprisingly easy to do and took me just 3 hours.

What I Used
2 Packs of Supreme Royal Silk Kinky Hair
Scissors
2 Bobby Pins
Sewing thread and needle

To prep my hair, I did my regular deep conditioning with honey, vitale leave-in conditioner, castor oil, Shea butter but added a medium sized egg to strengthen my hair. My friend helped me weave my hair in cornrows and the weave pattern she used gave room for me to have a center part and side parts

I’m really not sure how to explain the whole process of using the bobby pin to loop the kinky hair onto the weave but you could go on YouTube to search for Jouelzy and ThechicNatural crochet extension videos and it’s really easy. This is something I’m definitely going to be doing in the future, I used one pack with its full length at the back and cut the other pack into two equal parts for the front to create a layered look, I stretched the short pieces in the middle to make it look a bit longer.
When I was done;

When I was done with the crocheting, I put the hair in 12 big plaits, dipped the plaits in hot water and boom!

There’s a bit of frizz and I forgot to dip a plait so I’ll be re-doing the whole plait and dip tomorrow or I’ll just use my bendy rollers instead.
